Scissortail Music is dedicated to providing positive, meaningful music experiences for students of all ages and skill levels. Our Solo & Ensemble Contest offers an educational and supportive environment where musicians can grow through performance. The contest is open to public, private, and homeschool instrumental students (elementary through high school), as well as adult students studying in a music studio who are seeking a valuable performance opportunity.Participants work with trained judges and experienced educators, ensuring that each performance is evaluated fairly and accompanied by constructive, personalized feedback to support continued growth.

Scissortail Honor Orchestras

On behalf of the Scissortail Honor Orchestra, we are delighted to announce that auditions for the upcoming season are now open. We are committed to providing an exceptional orchestral experience for the most talented and passionate string players in the region, and we invite you to be part of our mission.

The Scissortail Honor Orchestra comprises two distinct ensembles—one for middle school students (grades 6-8) and one for high school students (grades 9-12). Our program offers unparalleled opportunities to perform, grow as musicians, and connect with peers who share your passion for music. All string students, whether public, private, or homeschooled, are eligible to audition.

Audition Details & Guidelines Auditions are taped submissions, with a submission deadline of October 9th, 2025. There is no fee to audition. For your audition, please prepare a two-octave scale of your choice and the attached excerpts for your instrument and grade level.

Clinic Information Selected students will be invited to participate in a clinic on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the University of Oklahoma's Catlett School of Music, where they will have the honor of being conducted by University of Oklahoma staff. A clinic fee of $30 is required for participation and covers all-day instruction, a commemorative t-shirt, and a snack. It is free to audition.
